This massive, 9,500 seat stadium was built in 1997 to replace one of the most historic Spring Training ballparks of all time... Orlando's Tinker Field. Tinker Field had stood in the shadows of the Orlando Citrus Bowl since 1914 and been home to the Brooklyn Dodgers, Cincinnati Reds, Washington Senators and Minnesota Twins, as well as the Double-A Orlando Rays (and countless other Minor League teams) before they moved here to Champion Stadium. Tinker Field was decommissioned in 2000 with the move to
The Wide World of Sports and after receiving a historical marker on the "National Register of Historic Places"... was somehow allowed to be demolished in 2015. Another stadium which had also served Minor League Baseball proudly... West Palm Beach's Municipal Stadium, would also face the wrecking ball due to the rise of this ballpark... after the Braves left West Palm Beach after 35 years of service.
