Blake Blaise again led the team in homers and this time swung a pretty powerful bat hitting 17 HRs as well as 18 2B and a .250 batting average. Thomari Story-Harden added to the power with 11 homers of his own while batting .249. Catcher Matt Oakes hit .311 (15 2B) while Nick Saunders hit .309 (10 2B, 5 HR). 2B Dusty Hillman hit .299. That was the good news... now for the bad. Starting rotation regular John Picco went 1-7 with an 8.40 ERA in 15 starts. Jason Weidemeir went 2-9 with a 5.50 ERA in 18 starts. Greg Russell pitched in 15 games going 1-4 with a 10.80 ERA. Andy Kozol went 0-4 in 13 games with a 10.20 ERA, and Kyle Nevels pitched in 10 games going 0-1 with an 11.39 ERA. There were a few bright spots in the pitching staff... just a few. Dan Schuck went 5-2 with a 3.96 ERA in 11 starts and Justin Craker went 3-3 with 11 saves in relief along with a 2.03 ERA. That's about it. The rest was just ugly. The team did get better once Jim Gentile took over to manage the club (their 5th manager in 2 years) and finished with an only slightly abysmal 28-66 (.298) record. Attendance however seemed to suffer tremendously from the awful play on the field. There were 30,000 less fans at the ballpark who seemed to find the ballclub too hard to watch. The team finished with 45,000 in attendance.
