Located in Marion Illinois, 2007 introduced professional baseball back to this region for the first time since 1950... and the first time to the town of Marion since 1948. Marion itself had its own franchise, the Marion Indians which played at City Park while its neighboring city of West Frankfort Illinois (located 12 miles due north up rt. 37) was home to the West Frankfort Cardinals of the Mississippi-Ohio Valley and Illinois State Leagues.  After a 57 year absence, baseball has finally returned to this area and the fans have shown their appreciation for the national pastime's re-emergence, by coming to this ballpark in record numbers.
