When the Heartland League folded in 1998, many teams were absorbed by the very successful
Frontier League. Oddly enough, the most stable team in the league... Lafayette
Indiana, was not. The Frontier League would ignore Loeb Stadium for 7
years until 2005. When Springfield's newest stadium was built for the Double-A
Cardinals, the Springfield-Ozark Mountain Ducks were left without a home. They
took to the road playing at little ballfields throughout the Ohio Valley under
the name the Ohio-Valley Redcoats. During the second half of the season, the Redcoats
settled at Loeb Stadium, and played the rest of their home games here. |
