On a dreary rainy night in June, 2,154 fans still came to see the first pitch of the Paints, making for Chillicothe's first venture into professional baseball. The Paints would beat the Portsmouth Explorers and quickly became the most stable (sorry about the pun), entry into the Frontier League. That inaugural season of the Frontier League featured 8 teams. Besides the Paints, were the West Virginia Coal Sox, the Ohio Valley RedCoats, the Portsmouth Explorers, the Zanesville Grays, the Tri-State Tomahawks, the Kentucky Rifles & the Lancaster Scouts.
