Up until recently, the prospect of a Minor League franchise in one America's large cities was nearly impossible because Major League teams have jurisdiction over quite a large area. Minor League teams trying to hone in on the bigger cities could get, just so close. That is why you'll find stadiums in Augusta NJ or Rockford and Elgin Illinois or Rancho Cucamonga California. You simply couldn't get any closer to a Major League city without infringing on Major League turf.
