That "everywhere" included a few cities that had never even had any sort of baseball stadium before. One of those new cities was Port Charlotte, just north of Fort Myers. In early 1987, Charlotte County Stadium was completed. It was a huge new ballpark that would help make the 6 weeks away from home, much easier to bear. It would also be a strong enough ballpark to attact a fan base to come see the team. The ballpark certainly caught the eye of the Texas Rangers. After 26 years the franchise finally said goodbye to Pompano Beach Municipal Stadium and moved to the west coast of Florida.
(Shhhh don't wake the bum in the grandstand).
