During the mid-1980's a movement began towards building new spring training facilities. Players wanted many of the luxuries they had at home during their 6 week stay in Florida. That meant new clubhouses, training rooms, practice facilities and just about everything else that they had become accustomed to. Fans also began coming to Florida and Arizona to see their teams train in the pre-season exhibition games. In fact, a whole tourist trade began to fully blossom during the month of March... one that the host cities began to notice themselves. Very quickly, new ballparks were being built everywhere.
