The new Deerfield Beach Sun Sox was a bad experiment. No one came to see them. They played half the season here before waiving the white flag on June 27th 1966. At that point the team moved all operations to the newly built Chain O' Lakes Park in Winter Haven Florida, and tried to salvage what was left of their season. Pompano Municipal went back to being utilized just for spring training. The White Sox pulled out of Chain O' Lakes park the following season, and out of the Florida State League altogether. The New York Mets took over the Winter Haven Single-A team for the 1967 season and then they too pulled out altogether in 1968.
