The New Iberia Cardinals were indeed members of the St. Louis Cardinals organization for much of this timeframe, ending in 1940 when they continued to play as a co-op team, until the war halted the league at the end of 1942. They had generally been at the bottom of the league for most of this time, until 1939, when the 4th place Cardinals actually made it into the playoffs. They would beat Alexandria 4 games to 1 in the first round, but lost to Lafayette in game 7 of the Championship series. The Cardinals seemed to follow the same plan for 1940, when they again finished in 4th place, made the playoffs and won against the favorite, Lake Charles before losing to Alexandria in the Championship series.
