The Schenectady Blue Jays were meant to be rivals to the famed Albany Senators who played at the beautiful and large Hawkins Stadium just 19.2 miles southeast of McNearney Stadium. The Blue Jays however would have to wait to get that chance as there were no "openings" in the Eastern League for a new franchise after this stadium was built. The Blue Jays would have to start their history in the Class C
Canadian-American League (Can-Am League), for their first five years before the "opportunity" arose for them in Double-A ball.
