...to this. In 2004, the Middletown Giants announced that they were moving their franchise, from Palmer Field to Holyoke and taking over MacKenzie Field. Along with the move, came lots of renovations that have turned this 80 year old ballpark into a viable facility again. Because the NECBL uses collegiate players, they don't have to spend money on talent and can instead invest into their ballparks. They however, act just like a minor league franchise in every other way. Quite literally the best of both worlds.
