New Brunswick Municipal Stadium as it was called back then… (today known as Memorial Stadium) hoped to entice some of Newark's (Ruppert Stadium) and Jersey City's (Roosevelt Stadium) baseball  fans… joining those two facilities as the closest an official "Minor League" team could come to the New York City limits. It would remain one of the 3 closest ballparks to NYC for 50 years until the Staten Island Yankees and Queens Kings (who became the Brooklyn Cyclones) moved to the boroughs in the late 1990's.
