In 1989, the Prince William Yankees would officially change their name to the Prince William Cannons... the Cannons moniker would stick for many years, and was certainly a good luck charm for the team. The new Cannons became the first and only team to play at Pfitzner Stadium to win the Carolina League champions. It would be the only time that any incarnation of a team that played Carolina League Baseball at Pfitzner Stadium would win the championship series. It was quite an awesome feat, led by Gerald Williams, Pat Kelly, Alan Mills, Mike Draper, Frank Seminara and Andy Cook.
