The winning tradition continued in 1948 and 1949 as the Lynchburg Cardinals would win 3 Piedmont League Championships during their tenure there. When the league folded following the 1955 season, City Stadium would drop out of pro baseball until 1962, with the exception of 1959, when they entered a Senators franchise into the Appalachian Rookie League.
