City Stadium still stands today in Lynchburg Virginia, with the same exact concrete base grandstand as you see here. So why, do you ask... do we consider todays ballpark to be "new"? Our criteria in determining if a ballpark is "new or old" has always been... if the base supporting grandstand still exists today, it's the same ballpark. If the base of the strucutre has been compromised, then it has been demolished and reconstructed. So why do we consider City Stadium to be a new ballpark, even though it has the same exact grandstand base? It really is the same ballpark. Though today, it looks like this...
