1983 saw OF Lenny Dykstra's fireworks as he hit .358 with 105 stolen bases while Dwight Gooden did just as good on the mound going 19-4 2.50 with 300 ks in only 191 innings as the Mets won #2. They would repeat in 1984 behind Dave Magadan (.350), Barry Lyons (12 HR .316), Rick Aguilera (8-3 2.34) and Randy Myers (13-5 2.06). 18 year old Gregg Jefferies would bat .354 in 1986. In 1988, the Mets moved their Spring Training system into Pt. St. Lucie FL and took their Class A with them. The Red Sox replaced the Mets in 1988, and saw players like John Valentin (.246 9HR) & Aaron Sele (13-5 2.91).
