The Rhode Island Reds would last for 2 seasons in the NECBL before moving to Cranston Rhode Island, former home of the New England League's Providence Grays. Cranston Stadium was a concrete and permanent structure unlike aluminum McCarthy Stadium. The team would change it's name to the Rhode Island Gulls to differentiate itself after the move.
