Despite the seeming loss of pro ball, a much better situation awaited Rendezvous Park. In 5 years the Chicago Cubs would be looking for a more practical Spring Training situation then they had in Avalon California… located a very long boat ride away on Catalina Island. The tiny ballpark known as "Wrigley Field of Avalon" was being phased out and the Cubs were going to
need a proper baseball stadium to call home. That proper stadium would come in 1952 in the form of Rendezvous Park in Mesa Arizona.
