Kino Park (aka Tucson Electric Park, built in 1998) is Hi Corbett Field's biggest
competition in the Tucson area. Not only does professional baseball rarely come
here anymore, but when it does, it usually chooses the newer Kino Park to this...
hurting the chances of this ballpark seeing professional play ever again,
even more. From 1928 to 1998 however... Hi Corbett Field was the only ballpark
in town and though there was one season in which Elysian Grove was |
utilized in 1915, the rest of Tucson's baseball history up until 1998
has all taken place right here. Professional baseball began the day this ballpark
was completed in 1928 as the new "Tucson Waddies" took the field for the first
time for the Arizona State League (which at the time was a Class D League
but would soon become Class C). |
