The Giants organization had previously been playing in the Class D Georgia State League, at the Sandersville Giants' Sandersville Baseball Park. It was the first time that the NY Giants had affiliated themselves with the Alabama-
Florida League (which had previously been known as the Alabama State League). With the Giants as their affiliate, the team was simply awful in its first season at Bloch Park, even with future Angels manager Moose Stubing in the field. The Cloverleafs finished in 6th place, 10 games under .500 with a 55-65 record. This led to a shakeup and the Giants pulled out of Selma, and moved further south to Panama City's Lions Park.
