The waiting finally ended in 1957, when the Class D Alabama Florida League came calling. The Dothan Cardinals were looking to make a move and a deal was struck with the town of Selma. The Dothan Cardinals left Wiregrass Memorial Stadium in Dothan Alabama, and moved into their new home... recently opened Bloch Park. St. Louis however, seemed happier in Dothan and didn't remain with the organization during the move. The Cardinals instead waited out the 1957 season, and by 1958, the had re-established a team at Dothan's Wiregrass Municipal Stadium. The open affiliation meanwhile was filled by the New York Giants.
