The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs were intended to take the field in 2007 but as is the case with this ballpark, nothing came easy. Even after years (and in some ways, decades), of planning were completed, the intricate "$20 million dollar" stadium took far longer (and far more money) to construct than expected. The  Blue Crabs would have to play the entire 2007 season on the road under the name "The Pennsylvania Road Warriors". In many ways, Opening Day Partners and the Atlantic League were lucky that Regency Furniture stepped up for 10 years and $2.8 million dollars worth of naming rights to pay down some of the cost overruns. Though it may not be the most nostalgic ballpark name, Regency Furniture Stadium opened to an adoring crowd one year and $25 million dollars later.
