The Rio Grande Association only lasted for the one season. Surprisingly, Douglas wouldn't see professional baseball again for 35 years. Douglas' sister city, beautiful Bisbee Arizona (25 miles to the west) meanwhile, began featuring professional baseball on a semi-regular basis starting in 1928. The two towns would never become rivals, as Douglas and Bisbee never hosted teams in the same professional league. They would however, share a team for nearly a decade.
