This resulted in utilitarian stadiums that dotted the landscape… some of which looked so similar in design, that ballplayers would often take the field and forget which city they were in for a moment or two. Pittsburgh (Three Rivers Stadium), Philadelphia (Veterans Stadium), Atlanta (Fulton County Stadium), Cincinnati (Riverfront Stadium) and St. Louis (Busch Stadium II) all featured the "donut " ballpark… a completely circular triple decked closed stadium. There was no view whatsoever… just 360 degrees of seating. The ballparks didn't even feature real grass as it was easier to change over from baseball to football to monster trucks, when the neon green Astroturf was the basis for the ballpark.
