Fenway Park is known today as not only the eldest ballpark still in play (built in 1912) but perhaps the most breathtaking as well. Looking very much like it did when it first openedů when the Titanic sank, Fenway Park is a true step back in time. Red Sox history however goes over a decade beyond that. The BoSox began with the birth of the American League in 1901. There was Red Sox baseball before Fenway Park and that baseball took place here at Huntington Avenue American League Base Ball Grounds.
