As you can see, this oval stadium has a playing field very similar in style to the Polo Grounds, L.A. Coliseum and Toronto’s Exhibition Stadium, with a temporary fence having to serve as the outfield fence, well ahead of the outfield stands. Needless to say, sitting in Center Field may not have offered the most intimate of baseball experiences. Because of this, Right Field is way too close and Left Field is way too far away. The players hated it and the fans even more so, especially because they had loved Offerman Stadium. The mayor made speeches to the effect of War Memorial Stadium ushering in a whole new era of Bisons Baseball, but the fans never supported the team at the Rockpile the way they had at Offerman Stadium. Within 10 years, the team would be dissolved.
