In 1960 the city of Buffalo decided to build a new junior high school where Offerman Stadium was standing. The problem was, the Bisons and their landlord Ferry-Woodland Realty Corporation were quite happy with Offerman Stadium and had no intentions of giving up the property. Realizing that the Bisons were never going to leave of their own volition, the city began to condemn the facility for being "unsafe" (there wasn‘t really anything wrong with it that couldn‘t be fixed). With no other options… the Bisons moved into War Memorial Stadium which was not intended to host professional baseball.
