After the decline of the Western League, Pioneer Park joined the Three I League (Illinois-Iowa-Indiana League). The team switched affiliations to the Philadelphia Phillies and became known as the Des Moines Demons. The Demons would play for 3 years in the Three-I League before the league folded for good after the 1961 season. The Demons made the playoffs in 1959 and put together one of the worst Minor League seasons ever in 1961 going 37-93.
