In 1970, the Iowa Oaks would feature the first future superstar as Vida Blue (12-3, 2.17) took the mound as a Triple-A player. Blue would go on to win a Cy Young and an MVP and become a 20 game winner 3 times in his career. The Oaks also featured Joe Rudi (.354), George Hendrick (.333, 21 HR), Gene Tenace (.282, 16 HR), Manny Trillo (.301, 27 2B), Phil Garner (.243), Glenn Abbott (6-8, 3.36) and future A's manager Tony LaRussa (.306, .290, .259). The Oaks remained in the Athletics organization for 4 years from 1969-1972.
