In 1963, the American Association had fallen on hard times and was basically in the
shadow of the it's two Triple-A brethren... the International League and the
Pacific Coast League. The American Association ultimately decided to dissolve,
making the Int'l League and the PCL into the main Triple-A support for the Minor
Leagues. The American Association teams were divvied up, with the 89ers going
to the PCL. As things started to settle down the 89ers actually put a very good
team on the field in their inaugural PCL season. These former Major Leaguers
were now playing their 2nd season in the Minors and found themselves at the end
of the season with an 84-74 record. |
