The big hitter of 1903 was a future Hall of Famer named Miller Huggins who hit .309 with not surprisingly… no home runs. 135,000 people crammed into this ballpark (and Lexington Park) which was 2nd in the league in attendance. The Apostles however were 1st in the league in the standings. They would win the 1903 American Association title in its first full season. Charles Chech won 24 games while Phil Geier hit .361. The Apostles would win again in 1904 as both Chech and Perry Sessions won 27 games each. It was the last time they would win here.
